Army Corps of Engineers Training Creates Opportunity

Utah construction companies received valuable training and credentialing to compete for business with the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers March 22-23. Both the training and associated testing were offered at no cost to businesses through the Utah Procurement Technical Assistance Center (PTAC) program. Diverse Business Services Needed at Dugway

STEM Outreach — Boys & Girls Club of Northern Utah STEM Fair
November 13, 2015

Nearly 3,000 Box Elder County youth and family members attended the Boys & Girls Club of Northern Utah Science, Technology, Engineering and Math (STEM) fair November 13 at the Box Elder County Fairgrounds. The fair was filled with hands-on activities and demonstrations designed to showcase STEM careers and the educational pathways to enter these fields. The goal, according to Executive Director, JeuneElle Jeffries, was to "inspire all kids from the youngest students to the graduating seniors to get on a path to this future." LSI was among the many participating organizations with a demonstration on cyber security. Many thanks to LSI's IT and Job Training and Placement (JTAP) program personnel for their exceptional efforts to help these youngsters explore career pathways!

STEM Outreach — YMCA Thingamajig Inventions
August 4, 2015

LSI volunteers teamed up with the YMCA for the first "Thingamajig" — a special STEM event serving summer camp participants from Salt Lake and Weber counties. LSI was one of 12 businesses that volunteered to host a STEM activity. The LSI team helped campers construct and race "cars" using edible materials. Many thanks to LSI's JTTaP team for organizing LSI's involvement!
